Canon Point: End of Children’s Crusade
Gender & Sex: m/m
Age: 16 - 17
Birthdate/Sign: Tattoo: February 20th. Pisces, placed just above his belly button and it would be about two inches in size. As he does not have a canon birthdate I have chosen Pisces for a few reasons. First, Teddy tends to be a very caring and living person. On top of that he is very compassionate and would rather not hurt anyone if it came down to it.
In general Pisces are hard to anger. Even though Teddy can turn into a giant green hulk, he would still rather take the path of least violence. During his confrontation with Greg Norris, he could have easily forced the other teen to stop his actions, but instead he threatened to call the police and when that didn’t work he simply found a way to intimidate the other teen without actual violence.
Pisces also tend to be highly adaptable to other people (especially to the emotional whims of others). Teddy is a shape shifter, he literally has to change himself and his reactions to others. This can be seen when he impersonated Yellow Jacket during the Marvel Civil War. He had to react to other people and their emotional responses. This shows that he is highly in tune with the people around him.
Pisces also tend to care very little for being in a position of leadership. Teddy wouldn’t care to be called the leader of the Young Avengers, nor would he demand that people listen to him. He has a strong sense of right and wrong, and has a charismatic way of getting his point across, but he does not expect nor does he want to be the final word in a conversation.
Pisces also tend to respond to the feelings of the people around them with sympathy and utmost amount of tact. Pisces also tend to react emotionally and instinctively rather than rationally. After the death of Stature, his boyfriend fell into a deep depression. Teddy knew that he loved Billy with all of his heart and that he didn’t ever wan to see Billy suffer. To that end, he simply did what his heart felt was right and proposed. Even though it is entirely possible that they were 18, it is just as likely that they had not yet reached that age. Either way, a marriage (yet alone a same sex marriage) at such a young age isn’t exactly the most rational idea.
In regards to the birth date that I have chosen, I put him at the very beginning of the Pisces cycle for one major reason. I believe that he more than likely a Pisces by many of his character traits, but he also shares a few with Aquarius. Most notable of the traits is his generally friendly nature and his loyalty to his friends and comrades
Suitability: Even at sixteen/seventeen, Teddy has been through more than most adults. From being kidnapped to being called the savior of two races he’s been through it all. He is also considered a super hero of sorts, helping to stop crime and being thrown into wars, there’s no way to deny that he is far from childlike simply based on his trials and tribulations throughout the series.
That’s not to say that he is going to be completely gung ho about the situation. In reality, he is an engaged man, and it is going to be tough for him to get past that barrier. But, how many people are going to have an easy time with that?
Surviving on his own wouldn’t be an issue. In general, Teddy is extremely adaptable and easily rolls with the punches. He is charismatic and generally an easy going guy that makes friends quickly. As for having to deal with having sex in order to survive, the key word in the situation is surviving. He has a life that he wants to get back to, loved ones that he cares deeply for. It would hurt at first, but his love for Billy is far greater than the act of simple sex. In the end, he would hope that Billy would understand what he had to do and why.
The act of sex itself probably isn’t too foreign to Teddy. That is, of course, not saying that there is written evidence that he has had any kind of sexual experience. But, as a teenager, it is likely that he as at least been exposed to it through media and it wouldn’t end up as a virginal “ew, that’s gross” situation.
Power: Teddy is an alien hybrid, meaning that he comes from two different alien races. Half of his heritage gives him shape shifting abilities (meaning he can shape shift into anything he wants, really), and the other half gives him super strength (need a car picked up so you can take their parking space, he’s got the skillz that pay the billz). He also has an increased healing factor and the organs in his body have the ability to shift to keep them out of harms way. The one power he would keep in Zodion would be his healing factor.
Personality: Teddy is bit of a fan boy. He enjoys comics and looks up to most of the super heroes out there (especially The Avengers.) Teddy is extremely loyal to his friends and would easily fight alongside of them until the end. Caring and polite, Teddy would be the type of guy you would want to take home to Mom. However, the best way to describe Teddy’s personality is that of a chameleon. He seems to be able to read people easily and adjust appropriately without losing who he is. He has such a gentle way about him that he can’t seem to make enemies. He knows how to act and react in each situation; no matter if he is himself or if he is “playing someone else.” Even though he is a mixture of Skrull and Kree he is nothing like either race. He is not militaristic in any way, preferring peace over the use of war tactics to solve problems. In general he would rather avoid violence and offer himself to stop it. He is rather lucky that instead of having to result to violence he can use his shape shifting ability to intimidate a person and avoid the confrontation completely.
One thing that should be known about Teddy is that he is a shape shifter and as such he tends to mold himself into what is needed at the time when it comes to people outside of his close circle of friends. One example was his first friend. In fact, to begin with Teddy used his abilities to fit in school and befriend the class president of the school; Greg Norris. Greg Norris was the first person that Teddy revealed his powers to expecting the other boy to freak out. Greg actually saw it as an advantage and the two would go about using Teddy’s powers to play pranks. It was soon after, that the Avengers broke up. Greg saw it has a way to make money, suggesting that they go and visit the Avenger’s mansion. Teddy was amazed and in awe of the mansion, treating it with the respect that it deserved, but Greg made it a point to gather up anything he could sell. Teddy being the good guy that he is immediately objected to what was going on. He knew it was stealing, and his morals screamed at him to call the cops. He told Greg that was he was doing wrong and that he would call the police. Greg went about telling him that who would believe someone that stole the identities of other people. Teddy knew that he was probably right, but stealing was still wrong and he used his powers to force Greg into leaving the mansion and everything that he was planning on stealing. Even though he was trying to impress people and fit in, he still had a strong sense of right or wrong.
He may have taken the name Hulkling based on his shape shifting into something similar to the Hulk, but he is no way near the unrivaled anger that comes from the Hulk. In fact, Teddy is rational teenager who when within the Young Avenger would much prefer to follow rather than lead. He would also prefer to resolve disputes quickly with as little violence as possible. He is very patient and tries to be truthful to everyone around him. As mention before, he had once used his abilities to fit in, but has moved on. Taking people’s identities and using his powers for childish behavior only ends up getting people hurt, and that’s something he doesn’t want to do.
He is not particularly outgoing, but that’s not to say that he’s a total introvert either. He’s generally a confident teen that can sometimes throw out a bit of snark to go with his quiet charm (though, a lot of the time the snark his directed towards his boyfriend). One thing to remember is that Teddy is a teenager and as such, can be immature and somewhat excitable.
Lately, however he has started to show more and more leadership abilities. Taking things a bit more seriously, making sure not to back down from pointing out some of the more reckless antics of Billy, and laying down boundaries when they need to be. He knows that there are some things that are going on that are just crazy, but he still supports Billy to the best of his abilities. However, in the end he just wants to make sure his boyfriend comes out of the whole situation in one piece.
If there was one time an angrier Teddy would come out it is when someone attacks his friends and to a greater extent one Billy Kaplan. Billy, of course , is his canon boyfriend and it has been stated that Teddy would maim someone if they even dared to attempt to hurt Billy in any shape or form ( of course, he knows Billy can take care of himself, but the point still stands). He is fiercely loyal and has a strong protective streak. In the end, he doesn’t want to see anyone get hurt, especially his friends. However, he is extremely forgiving; going so far as to forgive the person who killed his adoptive mother. He likes to believe the best in people, and easily gives people the benefit of the doubt.
✖ SAMPLES:
"Zodion" First-Person Network Entry: Is this thing on? This whole tech thing isn’t my strong point, and I’m really new this whole place altogether. So, if anything explodes… as awesome as that would be, it’s not my fault.
So… uh.. Hi, I guess. I’m Teddy and I have absolutely no clue where I am. The whole glowing altar thing and the mirrors…. well, what a trip. Not exactly how I thought I would end up with my first tattoo, but I guess it had to happen sometime.
[ He sighs a bit at that, frowning slightly, he was really trying to be optimistic ...] Okay, so if someone can tell me where I’m at and the way out of this place, I’d really like that. Billy is going to be confused when he wakes up and I’m not there.
"Zodionlogs" Third-Person Prose Entry: It had been late when he slipped out of the bed he was sharing with Billy to make a trip to the bathroom. When he had looked at the clock it read three am. Really, that wasn’t too late when it came to grand scheme of things, still he wanted to hurry and get back to bed for some rest before school started.
Bare feet shuffled down the carpeted hall before he pushed the bathroom door open and reached for the light. When the light didn’t turn on he frowned, “Man, how many Avengers does it take to change a light bulb.” With a shrug he stepped all the way into the bathroom, it was then that the light hit him suddenly. Raising a hand to shield his eyes from a light that obviously wasn’t from a standard bathroom light bulb he took a few more steps forward.
“Very funny, Tommy. Let’s just blind Teddy when he needs to use the bathroom. Thanks.” That was when his surroundings fully hit him. This wasn’t the bathroom he shared with his boyfriend, and it was most definitely not the house he had just been in.
The surroundings were like something out of Indiana Jones (the old ones, not the horrible last one). His eyes immediately moved to the small box, it was if it was calling to him. Demanding that he opened it and risk whatever may happen at that moment. He didn’t have a sandbag, but there wasn’t a place a giant boulder could fall from the ceiling and crush him either.
The box was simply too good to pass up, glancing to either side, Teddy stepped over the shallow pull and towards the box. That was when it hit him, a sudden pain on his stomach, his eyes widened when the water around him suddenly shot up closing him inside. He mad a complete circle as he looked for a way out of the space, each turn showing him the exact same image, his naked body and the tattoo of Pisces over his navel.
Turning back to the box again, he raised an eyebrow. He could have sworn that the box had been glowing just a second earlier. Obviously, the box had something to do with everything that happened so far. The need for answers was in the front of his mind, causing him to reach for the box and flip it open.
He first pulled out the communicator turning it over in his hand a bit. “iPhone? For some reason I don’t think calling 911 is going to work here…”
Finally he pulled out the note and read it over. His eyes widened a bit at the content and he had to read it a second and third time to make sure he wasn’t seeing things. Whatever was going on, he wasn’t anywhere near his home. On top of that, the fate of the galaxies depended on him.
“Why couldn’t this have been something from Doctor Doom? At least then I could punch him in the face or something.”
